How it works

From pocket find to full ID in three steps.

  1. Snap

Put the rock on a plain background and take a photo, or pick one from your library. Zoom in for small crystals.

  2. Identify

AI Stone names the rock or mineral and tells you whether it’s igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic or a mineral.

  3. Learn and keep

Read the full report, from Mohs hardness to care tips, and find it again any time in your collection.

The full report

Not just a name. Everything a geologist would check.

Most rock apps stop at a name and a paragraph. Every AI Stone scan comes with a structured report, in plain words, with hardness and density explained so a beginner can follow.

No account, no ads

Open the app and start scanning. There’s nothing to sign up for and nothing to watch.

Science first

Geology comes first. Crystal lore is labelled as belief, not fact.

Clear about limits

A photo can’t test hardness or chemistry, and every result says so. For anything valuable, confirm with a scratch test or an expert.

Private

We don’t collect personal data or sell anything about you. Your collection lives in your own iCloud.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is AI Stone free?

AI Stone is free to download. Identifying stones needs an AI Stone Pro subscription: $4.99 a week or $24.99 a year in the US, with local prices shown in the App Store. Some plans start with a free trial.

What can it identify?

Rocks, minerals, crystals and gemstones: from granite and obsidian to quartz, amethyst, labradorite and pyrite.

How accurate is it?

AI Stone does well on common rocks and minerals in a clear photo. Some stones look alike, and a photo can’t measure hardness or chemistry, so treat the result as a strong first answer. For anything valuable or unusual, like a possible meteorite or gemstone, confirm with a geologist or gemologist.

How do I get the best result?

Clean or wet the stone so its true colour shows, put it on a plain background in daylight, and fill the frame. Photograph a fresh, unweathered surface if you can.

Does it tell me what my rock is worth?

AI Stone tells you how rare a stone is, from very common to extremely rare, which is the best quick signal of whether it deserves a closer look. Real value depends on size, quality and the specimen market, so get an appraisal before selling anything rare.

How do I cancel?

Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose AI Stone. Apple handles all billing, so you can cancel any time.

Will my collection sync to my other devices?

Yes. Your collection syncs through iCloud across devices signed in to the same Apple Account.

How can I get help?

Email hello+aistone@sarunw.com, or use “Report a bug” in the app’s settings.
